Chapter 1515 Interrogation of the Cyborg
Chapter 1515 Interrogation of the Cyborg
"Chen Jun! Kill me!" The bald man, collapsed on the ground, covered in blood, blood still gushing from the wounds on his neck and shoulders, his body twisted in a grotesque contortion from the modifications and excruciating pain, forced out a hoarse, desperate roar from deep within his throat. His eyes held a mixture of extreme agony, resentment, and a hint of frantic pleading. "You and I...we are both evolved humans! Give me...the dignity of an evolved being! Kill me!"
He tried to make a final struggle, or rather, seek a dignified end, by using words like "fellow countrymen" and "dignity."
Chen Jun stood before him, looking down at this experimental subject who called himself a "higher human," his face devoid of pity, only displaying a cold scrutiny and a barely perceptible hint of disgust. He let out a cold laugh, his voice carrying a distinct clarity in the empty, dilapidated building:
"I'm sorry, but we've never been the same kind of people. You're a monster from a laboratory, while I'm a human."
He crouched down, his gaze sharp as a knife, piercing the other man's gradually unfocused pupils: "Want to die? Fine. Tell me, where is 'The Abyss' base? Your lair, your leader, your next plan. Tell me, and I might give you a quick death."
Upon hearing keywords like "base," "leader," and "plan," the last vestiges of madness and pleading in the bald man's eyes vanished instantly, replaced by an almost instinctive, deep-seated fear and a stubborn silence.
He tightly shut his mouth, even turning his head away to show his refusal. Leaking the organization's core secrets would have consequences far worse than death, consequences that even a modified "test subject" with an extremely high pain threshold like him could not bear.
"Don't want to talk?" Chen Jun's eyes turned cold. He stopped wasting words and acted with lightning speed! His left hand, like an iron clamp, suddenly grabbed the bald man's chin, the immense force almost crushing his jawbone, forcing him to open his mouth.
"Ugh..." the bald man groaned in pain.
Just as his mouth was forced open, Chen Jun's right index and middle fingers, brought together like a sword, swiftly and precisely probed into the other's mouth, forcefully prying and prying near the back molars on both sides!
"Snap! Snap!"
Two soft, teeth-grinding snaps. Two specially treated molars, possibly containing deadly poison or miniature explosive devices, were snapped off and pulled out by Chen Jun! The movements were clean, swift, and decisive.
"Ugh—!!!" The bald man's body convulsed violently, the intense pain causing his eyes to instantly turn bloodshot. He hadn't expected Chen Jun to be so decisive and ruthless, directly thwarting his last resort for suicide.
Just then—
"Da da da! Bang! Bang!"
Suddenly, a burst of dense and abrupt gunfire erupted downstairs! The sound of bullets shattering walls and glass, along with short shouts, broke the deathly silence inside the abandoned building.
Chen Jun frowned slightly, but his movements didn't falter. He casually tossed the two bloodstained broken teeth he'd pried out onto the ground and quickly glanced towards the stairwell. Had reinforcements arrived? Or were they reinforcements from the Abyss?
Almost seconds after the gunshot, a series of rapid and familiar footsteps came from the stairwell. Lu Da, gun at the ready, led several fully armed members of the elite squad, quickly storming into the floor in standard tactical formation, their gun barrels scanning the surroundings warily.
"Director Chen! Are you alright?!" Lu Da breathed a sigh of relief when he saw Chen Jun standing in the mess, but then his gaze was drawn to the bald man at Chen Jun's feet who was limp as mud, his body at an odd angle, and still twitching slightly.
"What...what the hell is that?" Lu Da's eyes widened, and he gasped. Although the person's shape was roughly human, the color of their skin, the texture of their muscles, and the inhuman aura emanating from them, even though they were severely injured and near death, all made him feel physically uncomfortable. "Is it human?"
"I suppose so. He's been modified, a cyborg." Chen Jun said succinctly, kicking the "object" at his feet. "Take him back. Alive. Be careful, this guy might have other methods of suicide or physical mutations. We need to prevent him from self-destructing or suddenly attacking people."
"A cyborg? Alive?" Lu Da's spirits lifted, immediately realizing the immense value of this thing. "Understood! Make sure to bring him back 'intact'!"
With a wave of his hand, two members of the elite team immediately stepped forward. Their movements were professional and cautious. Using special restraints and sedatives, they firmly controlled the bald man, who had completely lost the ability to resist but was still glaring at them with fierce and resentful eyes. They lifted him up like a dangerous object.
Downstairs, the gunfire continued intensely, even more so, clearly indicating that another group of elite soldiers led by Zhang Tie was engaged in fierce fighting with the remaining "Abyss" members who had either rushed to the scene or were already on guard outside.
Without hesitation, Chen Jun instructed Lu Da, "Clean up the scene and check for any survivors or clues." Then, he picked up a relatively intact submachine gun dropped by the enemy from the ground, checked the magazine, and charged downstairs like a cheetah towards the building where the gunfire was most intense.
For the next half hour, the abandoned building complex seemed to transform into a vast, three-dimensional killing maze. Gunshots, explosions, the muffled thuds of close combat, the screams of the dying... all sorts of sounds intertwined, creating a brutal and efficient symphony of death.
Chen Jun's figure moved among the broken walls and ruins, like the embodiment of death.
His marksmanship was terrifyingly accurate, his movement speed unpredictable, and his use of terrain and timing in battle reached an art form. Almost every short burst of fire was accompanied by the fall of an enemy. He not only killed enemies himself, but also precisely commanded and coordinated the actions of Zhang Tie and others while on the move, gradually cornering and annihilating the remaining "Abyss" militants.
As the last gunfire ceased and the smoke slowly dissipated, Chen Jun stood amidst corpses and rubble, his combat uniform stained with dust and blood, yet his eyes remained as calm as ice. He casually tossed his empty submachine gun aside.
Zhang Tie led several wounded but excited members of the elite team over, their gazes towards Chen Jun filled with undisguised admiration and awe. A rough count revealed that of the more than twenty Abyss militants who had fallen inside and outside the building, seven or eight out of ten had been single-handedly killed by Chen Jun. This level of combat prowess far exceeded their conventional understanding of what constituted a "strongman."
"Director Chen, the outer perimeter has been cleared, and no one escaped. However, we found the vehicles they used during their retreat and some communication equipment, which have been sealed off," Zhang Tie reported, his voice hoarse and excited from the intense battle.
"Okay. Clean up the battlefield, search thoroughly, take away any suspicious items, documents, and electronic devices. Photograph the bodies for archiving and then dispose of them." Chen Jun gave the order, his voice calm, as if the bloody massacre just now was just routine training.
"Yes!"
……
Back at the temporary secret headquarters of the Strategic Bureau, Chen Jun quickly washed up and changed into clean civilian clothes. Lu Da was already there waiting to report.
"Director Chen, as planned, we've contacted the leader of an anti-government armed group in South Vietnam through an intermediary. His codename is 'Viper.' He's agreed to meet tomorrow afternoon at 3 PM at an abandoned rubber plantation on the edge of their controlled territory," Lu Da reported quickly.
Chen Jun nodded. The complex situation in South Vietnam and the deeply entrenched local forces were precisely the breeding ground for "The Abyss" to hide or operate in. Contacting "Viper" was a crucial part of obtaining intelligence.
"What about that 'thing' we brought back?" Chen Jun was more concerned about the live specimen.
Lu Da's expression turned grim, and he shook his head: "He's being held in the makeshift interrogation room in the basement. The interrogation experts from the Sharp Knife Team have been taking turns for three hours, using both conventional and unconventional methods. But that guy is like a rock! No, harder than a rock! Apart from groaning a few times at the beginning due to the intense pain, he hasn't made a sound since. His eyes are vacant, and he doesn't react to any stimuli. Although his pulse and breathing indicate that he's still alive, he gives the impression of... a walking corpse that still has physiological functions. Our people... can't do anything with him for now."
Chen Jun listened without showing any surprise. These deeply modified and brainwashed "experimental subjects" likely possessed a willpower and pain tolerance far exceeding that of ordinary people; their fear and survival instincts might even have been deliberately erased or distorted. The ineffectiveness of conventional interrogation methods was within his expectations.
"Okay." Chen Jun stood up. "I'll go take a look."
He walked down the narrow stairs leading to the basement alone. The basement was dimly lit, the air was stuffy, and it carried a faint smell of blood and disinfectant.
In the makeshift interrogation room, two expert interrogators from the elite team were sweating profusely, their faces showing frustration and a hint of anger. In front of them, a bald man was firmly strapped to a metal chair with specially made alloy shackles, and vital signs monitoring equipment was attached to his body.
He hung his head, his bare upper body covered with new bruises, abrasions and electric shock marks, but he remained motionless, like a soulless sculpture.
Upon seeing Chen Jun enter, the two interrogation experts immediately stood up, saluted, and said with obvious shame, "Director Chen! We...we are incompetent and can't get anything out of him."
Chen Jun waved his hand, his gaze falling on the "cyborg" who showed no reaction to anything around him, and stared at him for a few seconds.
Then, his cold, emotionless voice rang out clearly in the cramped and oppressive interrogation room:
"You all get out."
"Close the door."
"let me."
