Chapter 1491 Breaking into the Manor
Chapter 1491 Breaking into the Manor
The car drove silently along the winding mountain road, the night growing ever darker outside the window, with blurry tree shadows flashing by. Far from the hustle and bustle of the city, all around were the chirping of insects and the sound of the wind, the air carrying the unique crispness of the mountains, mixed with the scent of earth and plants.
Chen Jun leaned back in his seat, his gaze calmly surveying his surroundings through the car window. The terrain gradually rose, the roads became rugged, and there were few houses on either side, only the occasional fleeting glimpse of a side road leading to an unknown destination. Excellent, this was exactly the location he wanted—secluded enough, private enough, meaning that once he took action, he could have far fewer scruples and wouldn't have to worry about harming innocent people. In the city, he would be too constrained.
The car finally stopped at the edge of a relatively open mountain valley. There was no highway ahead, only a narrow, gravel path, barely wide enough for one car, leading into the depths of the forest. The driver turned off the engine, and silence fell over the car.
Chen Jun pushed open the car door and got out. A night breeze blew in his face, carrying the coolness of the mountains. He looked up and saw, about a hundred meters ahead, the dark silhouette of a building vaguely visible amidst the lush forest. It was a sprawling, antique-style mountain villa, its white walls and gray tiles, set against the dim starlight and mountain shadows, resembling a lurking beast, silently crouching in the valley. A few solitary landscape lights emitted a dim yellow glow, which, instead of dispelling the darkness, added to the sense of mystery and eeriness.
These private mountain resorts, which appear abruptly on the edge of remote mountain scenic areas, often have complex backgrounds, and ordinary people dare not approach them, let alone inquire about them. For an organization like "The Abyss," however, they are indeed an excellent choice for establishing a hidden stronghold.
Chen Jun adjusted his dark combat uniform, ensuring every pocket and piece of equipment was within easy reach and would not make a sound. He took a deep breath of the crisp, cold air, his eyes sharp as a drawn sword.
“I hope you…” he murmured to himself, his voice barely audible, fading into the night wind, “…don’t disappoint me.”
The moment his words fell, his figure seemed to truly merge into the darkness before him. Without any large movements, merely a sideways slide, and he vanished from beside the car, as if swallowed by the night. When he reappeared, he was already several meters away in the shadows of the bushes, moving silently, as if he were part of the night in the mountains, a ghost wandering within it.
Instead of rushing directly to the gate of the villa, he chose a more concealed flank route that offered a better view of the overall situation. Using the trees, rocks, and undulating terrain, he quickly and silently approached the perimeter of the villa.
Soon, the outlines of the villa's high walls and its tightly closed, rather heavy-looking gate became clear in the darkness. A guard post stood at the entrance, and figures could be vaguely seen moving inside—sentinels on guard. Above the walls and at several key corners, barely perceptible red lights flickered—those were surveillance cameras.
Chen Jun stopped behind a large tree, his gaze sweeping across the sentry's position, the angle of the surveillance cameras, the height of the wall, and possible climbing points like a scanner. At the same time, with a slight thought, the mysterious perception of the "hacker space" spread out from him like invisible ripples, capturing the life force inside and outside the villa, the faint fluctuations in the operation of electronic devices, and even the most subtle anomalies in the airflow.
Even more peculiarly, as his mind became highly focused and his fighting spirit surged forth, an invisible yet undeniably real "aura," or rather, "killing intent," emanated from him. This was not the kind of visible black mist depicted in movies and television shows, but a terrifying pressure born from countless life-or-death battles and the slaying of numerous enemies, directly striking at the very instincts of living beings. To animals with keen senses, this was tantamount to a apex predator from the ancient wilderness suddenly descending upon their territory.
"Woo..."
From within the wall, two suppressed, fearful whimpers could be faintly heard. They were from the large guard dogs kept at the manor. Normally ferocious, these dogs now had their tails tucked between their legs, their limbs trembling slightly, and they emitted weak, guttural growls, staring intently in Chen Jun's direction, though they probably couldn't see anything, filled with a fear that ran deep in their blood. They dared not bark, dared not warn, and even under Chen Jun's presence, they instinctively retreated, silently shrinking back into their kennels, not daring to even breathe.
Chen Jun was not surprised by this. He had long discovered that the "aura" he naturally exuded under extreme conditions had a very strong deterrent effect on animals. This could be considered a kind of unexpected "skill".
Ignoring the sentries and surveillance cameras on the perimeter—for someone with "hacker space" perception and superhuman physical abilities, bypassing these fixed defenses was no problem—Chen Jun chose a spot where a blind spot in the surveillance met a relatively low section of the wall. He took a few running steps, lightly touched the base of the wall with his toes, and his body lifted into the air as if weightless. With one hand on the top of the wall, he silently vaulted over the nearly three-meter-high wall, landing lightly without making a sound.
Inside the walls lies a meticulously maintained garden landscape, complete with artificial hills, ponds, and winding paths. The lighting is dimmer and more carefully distributed than outside, illuminating key paths while also casting large areas of shadow for hiding.
Like a true ghost, Chen Jun swiftly crept towards the core area of the main villa complex, concealed by shadows and the landscape. His movements were swift and fluid, almost blending into the environment.
Just as he approached a detached building that appeared to be used by service staff, a faint conversation drifted into his ears on the night breeze. The voice came from a half-open window.
"...Have you heard? Ding Sheng's third young master has been arrested!"
"Huh? You mean Mr. Lin Sicong? Really?"
“It’s absolutely true! A friend of mine who works in the city told me secretly that there was a lot of commotion at the docks last night, with gunfire and explosions… It seems like Boss Lin is involved in some big case…”
It was the voice of two young women, who sounded like the receptionists inside the resort, whispering between shifts.
A cold glint flashed in Chen Jun's eyes. The news spread really fast. However, this also indirectly confirmed that the connection between "Flying Dragon Manor" and Dingsheng, and "Abyss," was extraordinary, as even the lowest-level service staff could learn about Lin Sicong's accident so quickly.
Without the slightest hesitation, he moved like a ghost to the half-open window, listened intently to confirm that there were only two people inside. The next moment, he gently pushed open the window and swept into the room like a gust of wind!
The indoor lighting was slightly brighter than the outside light. Two young waitresses in matching uniforms were huddled together, whispering to each other, their backs to the window, completely unaware of the approaching danger.
Chen Jun's moves were lightning fast!
"Crack!"
With a soft thud, the chop landed precisely on the side of the neck of the waitress closest to him. The girl didn't even utter a sound; her eyes rolled back, and she slumped softly to the ground.
Almost simultaneously, Chen Jun's other hand reached out like an iron clamp and covered the mouth of another waitress from behind. At the same time, he tightened his arm, firmly controlling her and dragging her to a shadowy corner, avoiding the view of passersby outside the window or door.
"Ugh! Ugh!!" The waitress, her mouth covered, stared wide-eyed in terror, her body stiffening as she struggled desperately, only to find herself bound by steel, unable to move.
"Don't move, don't make a sound." Chen Jun's voice rang close to her ear, cold and calm, devoid of any emotion, yet containing a chilling power. "I ask, you answer. Nod or shake your head. If you dare to lie to me, or try to attract someone else's attention, your fate will be worse than hers. Understand?"
Feeling the force from the back of her neck that almost crushed her bones, and the undisguised murderous intent in the voice, the waitress was terrified. Tears welled up instantly, and she nodded frantically, like a chicken pecking at rice.
Chen Jun slightly loosened his hand covering his mouth, but still maintained absolute control.
"Is Lin Xiuya here?" He asked the most crucial question directly.
The waitress trembled, her eyes filled with fear and hesitation.
Chen Jun increased the pressure on his fingers slightly.
"Yes...yes! Yes!" The waitress winced in pain, no longer daring to hide it. Her voice trembled with tears as she gasped, "Mr. Lin...Mr. Lin...came in the evening...at...at 'Listening to the Waves Pavilion'...that's the innermost courtyard of the villa...usually they don't let us get close..."
"Tingtao Pavilion? What is its exact location? Besides Lin Xiuya, who else is inside? What is the guard situation?" Chen Jun asked one question after another, speaking quickly but with exceptional clarity.
The waitress stammered out the bits and pieces of information she knew: "Tingtao Pavilion... is over at the hot springs in the back mountain, past the 'Lanyue Bridge' and to the right, the most secluded detached building... usually there are several men in black suits who look fierce guarding it... today... today there seem to be even more people... I... I really don't know who they are, we can't even get into a place like that..."
Chen Jun quickly sketched out the route and the distribution of guards in his mind. The information was limited, but enough for him to make a judgment.
“Very good,” he said softly.
Then, amidst the waitress's terrified gaze, Chen Jun raised his hand and delivered a precise chop to her neck.
The waitress's body went limp and she fainted to the ground.
Chen Jun dragged the two women to a more secluded corner of the room, gave them a quick check, and confirmed that they were only temporarily unconscious and not in mortal danger. He wouldn't kill innocent people indiscriminately, but he also couldn't let them wake up immediately and ruin his plans.
After doing all this, he stood up and dusted off his hands, brushing off non-existent dust. A cold glint flashed in his eyes.
"Father and son are both here..." A cold smile curled at the corner of his lips. "That's good."
"A family should be together, all together."
The next moment, his figure vanished from the side room again, as if he had never been there. Only the two unconscious waitresses on the ground and the still howling mountain wind outside the window testified to the brief but deadly interlude that had just occurred.
Meanwhile, Chen Jun, like the most deadly shadow, silently crept towards "Tingtao Pavilion," the deepest part of the villa, as indicated by the waitress.
