Chapter 475 Feeling of powerlessness
Chapter 475 Feeling of powerlessness
Behind the door was a dimly lit room with a table in the middle, scattered with documents and other items. A figure was standing beside the table, seemingly flipping through something, completely oblivious to the noise outside.
Su Ming didn't rush forward, but quietly hid behind the door, observing everything in the room. His eyes quickly adjusted to the darkness and caught sight of a document on the table. It looked very important, with slightly yellowed edges, as if it had been there for some time. Su Ming's heart skipped a beat, and he felt that this document might be the clue he needed.
He walked into the room silently, approached the table, and reached for the document. Just as he was about to touch the document, the lights in the room suddenly lit up, and the glare made Su Ming lose his sense of direction in an instant.
"Who?" The person in the room turned around suddenly, with a hint of surprise in his eyes.
Su Ming's heartbeat pounded against his chest like a drum, nearly suffocating him. His fingers gripped the doorknob at the entrance, his mind racing with thoughts—escape, or fight? If he rushed out immediately, he might be able to capitalize on the other party's sudden reaction and secure a glimmer of hope. But if the other party was already prepared, he would only fall deeper into a trap. Whether to take a risk or wait, he knew he had few options left.
"It's over." Su Ming sneered inwardly, a hint of self-mockery. He had thought he could handle any situation with ease, but the current situation made him feel extremely oppressive. The man outside the door glanced through the gap, clearly noticing something unusual. At that moment, Su Ming could almost feel the other person's sharp gaze piercing the darkness and locking onto him.
He took a slight step back, trying to blend into the darkness. Everything in his mind was racing, searching for a way out. He knew that if he didn't act, he would be exposed sooner or later. The question was, could he withstand the consequences? Could he turn the tide in this game?
"If I run out now, can I escape?" He kept asking himself, but the answer was unclear. The situation outside was equally confusing, and he was unsure how far he would be caught.
Suddenly, footsteps were heard from within the room, approaching. Su Ming's heart tightened. He could hear the person approaching, their steps steady and unhurried, as if they were fully confident of their position. Su Ming closed his eyes, straining to remain calm. He knew he couldn't be forced into making the wrong decision; he had to find a way out.
"Damn it, I can't wait any longer." He gritted his teeth and decided to take a chance. Although the road ahead was filled with unknown dangers, if he didn't act now, he might be trapped and die in this dark corner.
He gently let go of the doorknob and quickly dodged to the corner of the room, hiding behind a pile of old furniture. His heartbeat quickened, his breathing became heavy, and Su Ming could almost hear every breath he took. In this moment, he felt like the prey, and the man was the hunter, closing in, ready to devour him.
"I can't get caught." This was the only thought in Su Ming's mind. Everything else seemed unimportant. No matter what, he had to save his life.
The footsteps finally stopped, and the room fell into a dead silence. Su Ming held his breath, trying not to make any sound. Time seemed to stand still, the air frozen around him, and he could even feel every hair tense. Had that person sensed his presence? Or was the quiet in the room just a temporary calm, ready to be broken at any moment?
"Do you think you can hide from me?" A deep voice suddenly broke the silence. There was a subtle hint of sneer in the voice, as if Su Ming's hiding behavior had been anticipated.
Su Ming's heart skipped a beat, and his body tensed almost unconsciously. Had that person discovered him? He didn't act rashly, but continued to stand where he was, as if waiting for something.
"Who are you?" Su Ming asked softly, his voice low, trying not to reveal himself.
"You don't need to know," the man replied coldly, his tone devoid of any emotion. Then, his footsteps resounded, heading towards Su Ming.
"What exactly does he want to do?" Su Ming's mind was filled with questions. The situation was becoming increasingly complicated, and he had no way out. If he continued to dodge, he might be completely forced into a corner. In that case, what was there to fear?
Su Ming took a deep breath, stood up suddenly, and rushed towards the man quickly, holding the tools tightly in his hands, ready to deal with any possible emergencies at any time.
However, just as he was about to pounce, the man's voice rang out again: "Do you think you can escape?"
Su Ming's movements paused momentarily, his alertness rising sharply. His eyes fixed on the man standing in front of him, his mind rapidly analyzing the situation. The other party had clearly seized the initiative, but he wasn't completely passive. Now, all he could do was try to remain calm and look for opportunities.
"Do you want to know who I am?" the man asked softly, with a hint of sarcasm in his tone.
Su Ming didn't answer. His eyes were fixed on the other person, trying to grasp any valuable information from his expression. At this moment, time seemed to freeze, and the tension in the air was almost suffocating.
"Are you here to see Zheng Yaoxian?" the man suddenly spoke in a calm tone, but it made Su Ming's heart tremble violently.
Zheng Yaoxian?
At that moment, Su Ming's mind went blank. His heartbeat involuntarily accelerated, and his breathing became rapid. The other party actually knew about Zheng Yaoxian's existence and even knew that he was looking for him. The man seemed to sense Su Ming's shock, and the corners of his mouth curled up slightly, revealing a hint of a sneer.
"You don't have to pretend anymore," the man said softly. "Do you think I can't see you're hiding? You're smart, but that's all."
Su Ming suddenly felt a surge of anger and powerlessness. He had been carefully evading the enemy, trying not to reveal his whereabouts, only to be exposed. Worse still, Zheng Yaoxian's identity had been revealed, and he was no longer just a simple tracker. The situation was now far beyond his control.
"What exactly do you want to do?" Su Ming finally couldn't help but ask, his tone full of suppressed anger.
"You should understand that I don't need to answer your questions." The man said coldly, without a trace of emotion in his tone.
