Chapter 457 Slightly Open
Chapter 457 Slightly Open
"The meaning of opportunity isn't to make you obey, but to give you the space to choose." A complex emotion flashed in Zheng Yaoxian's eyes. "You can choose to stay and cooperate with me, or you can choose to escape and try to break free from the shackles of this chess game. But no matter what, you are now in our sights."
Su Ming's heart was churning violently, but his expression remained calm. He knew full well that Zheng Yaoxian's words weren't exaggerated at all. The people outside were already waiting for him, and this situation was no longer something he could control alone.
"Are you telling me all this now because you want me to cooperate with your plan?" Su Ming sneered, "You're wishful thinking. Do you think I'll be so easily led by you?"
Zheng Yaoxian's gaze grew deeper, as if he saw through Su Ming's every move. "I know you're no ordinary person, Su Ming." He suddenly softened his tone, as if trying to persuade him. "But the more you refuse to cooperate, the deeper you'll sink. You might be able to hide from these people temporarily, but you won't be able to escape forever." He paused, his eyes fixed on Su Ming, a complex glint in them. "I'm giving you one last chance. Choose to join us and take a smoother path, one far easier than the life-or-death struggle you face now."
The corners of Su Ming's mouth curled up slightly, his eyes as cold as a knife, "Do you think I will believe you?"
"I don't expect you to believe me," Zheng Yaoxian said lightly, "I'm just giving you one chance to make your own choice."
"We can't just fight head-on," he made a quick decision. The atmosphere outside was growing increasingly tense. He could vaguely sense the pursuers approaching, even the sound of footsteps drawing closer, gradually forming a net of encirclement. He needed a break from this tense situation, a moment to breathe, before deciding his next move.
He scanned the surroundings, quickly analyzing every possible hiding spot. At this moment, his gaze rested on a door not far away—the restroom.
"Being able to hide for a while is always better than facing a powerful enemy head-on," Su Ming mused quietly. He walked towards the bathroom, each step slow but precise. The sound of his footsteps faded from his ears, and his mind pictured the situation outside more and more clearly. Unfortunately, he didn't notice that behind the bathroom door, someone was already waiting silently.
As Su Ming pushed open the restroom door, he glanced around before entering at breakneck speed. He needed time to think, to sort out the increasingly chaotic situation. Suddenly, however, a subtle movement outside the door made him frown slightly—it seemed he wasn't the only one who had noticed this hidden spot.
His eyes widened, and almost instinctively, he hid behind a partition. His heartbeat began to accelerate, his eyes fixed on the door, his brow furrowed. This wasn't the ordinary restroom he'd imagined, but a place long lurking. A slight noise came from the crack of the door, as if someone was testing him. Su Ming's gaze grew cold, his breathing slowed intentionally, and his mind raced, recalling every possible detail of what had just happened.
"I actually underestimated the danger of this place..." A thought quickly popped up in his mind.
A different aura had already filled the restroom, a profoundly calming presence that seemed to thicken the air. That tranquility almost made Su Ming feel uneasy; he knew he wasn't the only prey.
At this moment, a more distinct sound of footsteps could be heard from outside the door. It was a steady pace, radiating a calm determination. It sounded like the gait of someone trained for a long time, swift yet oppressive. Each step seemed to weigh on Su Ming's heart, leaving him with an indescribable feeling of suffocation.
"If they come in and I'm not prepared, the situation will get worse," Su Ming thought to himself, a plan for escape already running in his mind. He knew that if he didn't act immediately, he would be in even greater trouble.
Footsteps outside the door gradually approached, gradually disappearing near the bathroom entrance. There was a pause, and then the tension in the air grew thicker. The door seemed to vibrate slightly, clearly someone was testing it. Su Ming's eyes were completely empty, his gaze like a sharp knife, scanning everything around him.
"He must be coming in." Su Ming was alert. The aura was pressing towards him from the doorway, as if gradually approaching. It seemed that his hiding space was becoming increasingly narrow without him noticing.
Suddenly, someone outside the door whispered, "He went in."
The sound gave Su Ming almost no time to react. He immediately realized that this place was not safe. It was just a bathroom, not a permanent shelter. The enemy had discovered him, or rather, they knew exactly where he was hiding.
He didn't dare hesitate any longer and immediately stood up, quickly jumped out from behind the partition, and began to look for a new way out. He had already noticed everything in the bathroom. A long and narrow passage was hidden in the corner of the bathroom. Although it was dim, it was exactly the direction he wanted.
However, just as he was passing through quickly, a faint voice suddenly came from the end of the passage, as if someone was whispering: "He is here."
Su Ming's heartbeat suddenly accelerated, and he felt he could almost hear it. He quickly glanced around, his eyes flickering, as if everything was shrouded in a violent fog. The complex situation made it almost impossible to discern where the enemy was lying in ambush.
Then, he caught a glimpse of a figure—a man in a gray suit, his face expressionless and his body thin, yet he exuded an irresistible sense of oppression. This man was clearly standing at the end of the passage, waiting for Su Ming.
"You are..." Su Ming's mouth opened slightly, his eyes fixed on the man, his heart full of doubts, but more of alertness.
"I've been waiting for you for a long time." The man's voice was deep, like an echo from a deep well. He smiled slightly, his eyes filled with coldness. "Do you think you can escape?"
A cold glint flashed in Su Ming's eyes, and his heart beat even faster. He instantly realized that this man wasn't just a pursuer, but a long-laid trap. Their plan was far more complex and far-reaching than he had imagined.
"You... knew I would come?" Su Ming asked in a low voice, gritting his teeth.
