Addicted to Love, Mr. Fu’s Newly Married Wife

Chapter 1498 Facing Everything

Chapter 1498 Facing Everything

A group of people hurriedly sent Nan Yifeng's biological father to the hospital.

The hospital corridor was in chaos. The paramedics were carrying Nan Yifeng's father, their steps hurried and flustered.

The man on the stretcher was as pale as paper, his eyes were tightly closed, his brows were wrinkled in pain, his clothes were disheveled and stained with blood in several places. As the stretcher swayed, the bloodstains left shocking marks on the white sheets.

Someone was running and shouting, "Doctor! Doctor! Help!" His voice was full of anxiety and panic.

The nurses heard the shouts and quickly came over pushing an emergency bed. They hurriedly transferred Nan Yifeng's father onto the bed and then pushed him towards the emergency room. The wheels of the bed rubbed against the ground, making a squeaking sound, as if it was an alarm sounding that life was racing against time.

Nan Yifeng's mother followed closely behind, her eyes full of worry. Her steps were a little messy, and she was bumped into by people from time to time, but she didn't care about that. She just stared at the emergency room door that was about to close, praying silently in her heart: "Everything must be okay, everything must be okay..."

On the other side, Nan Xi's face was solemn. He grabbed Nan Yifeng's arm and said in a low voice with irresistible power: "Yifeng, come with me to the hospital. Your father is in this state now, you have to be here."

Nan Yifeng's body stiffened slightly. He wanted to break free, but when he saw Nan Xi's determined and pleading eyes, he stopped.

A complex emotion flashed in Nan Yifeng's eyes, including anger, unwillingness, and a barely perceptible hesitation. He knew that he could not refuse Nan Xi and Du Yunxi.

Over the years, it was this couple who raised him and gave him a warm home and endless love.

Although he was full of resentment towards his biological father, at this moment, facing Nan Xi's request, he finally nodded.

Nan Xi breathed a sigh of relief when he saw Nan Yifeng agreed. He patted Nan Yifeng on the shoulder and said softly, "Let's go. No matter what, let's go check on your father first. I know you're feeling very uncomfortable, but...some things can't be solved by just a beating."

After saying that, he took Nan Yifeng and walked towards the hospital.

Nan Yifeng followed behind with heavy steps. He looked towards the emergency room from time to time, with mixed feelings in his heart.

The hospital ward was filled with the pungent smell of disinfectant, and the white walls and sheets looked particularly desolate under the light.

Nan Yifeng's father was lying on the hospital bed, his face still a little pale, but he no longer looked as critical as before.

His body was wrapped in gauze in many places, and blood could be faintly seen through the gauze. Although they were only superficial injuries, the pain was really tormenting him.

As soon as he woke up, he ignored the doctors and nurses' advice and struggled to get up from the bed, shouting, "I want to go back! I don't want to stay here for a moment!"

The voice was a bit irritable and impatient, as if the hospital was some kind of monster.

Nan Xi heard the noise and hurried in from outside the ward. With a gentle smile on his face and a look of concern in his eyes, he quickly walked to Nan's father's bedside and said softly, "Brother, you haven't recovered yet. Take good care of yourself in the hospital first. It won't be too late to go back once you've fully recovered."

Nan's father, however, was like a powder keg that had been lit. He turned his head abruptly, glared at Nan Xi fiercely, and shouted, "What do you think of me? I want to go back, and no one can stop me!"

His tone was full of disdain and hostility, as if Nan Xi was his enemy.

Nan Yifeng was originally standing in the corner of the ward, his face was terribly gloomy, and there was a hint of coldness in his eyes.

Hearing Nan's father being so rude to Nan Xi, he instantly became furious. He rushed forward and stood in front of Nan Xi. He looked at Nan's father coldly, and his voice was as cold as if it came from an ice cellar: "Dad, don't worry about him. He... doesn't deserve it. Look at him. Good intentions don't get good rewards."

His eyes were full of disgust and determination, as if the man in front of him had nothing to do with him.

"Yi Feng, no matter what, he is still your father. If you act like this, outsiders will say you are unfilial." Mother spoke.

Nan Yifeng, however, remained unmoved. He straightened his back and responded coldly, "Haha, what right does he have to say whether I'm filial or not? Has he ever fulfilled his responsibilities as a father for even one day in all these years? Now that something's happened, he just acts like a bully here. Is he worthy of being a father?"

The atmosphere in the ward suddenly became tense. The doctors and nurses looked at each other, not knowing how to mediate this fierce conflict.

Nan Xi and Du Yunxi stood aside, looking at Nan Yifeng and Nan's father with worry, fearing that they would attack again.

Nan Weiwei bit her lips tightly, her eyes full of helplessness and pain. She didn't know how to resolve this family turmoil.

Nan Yifeng's father supported himself on the bedside table with both hands and slowly stood up with a shaky body. Every time he moved, the wounds on his body seemed to feel a sharp pain, making him frown.

But he gritted his teeth, endured the pain, and tried to keep his body steady.

He raised his head slightly and looked at Nan Xi, forcing a smile that was uglier than crying. That smile was filled with endless bitterness and helplessness: "Brother, I'm fine. Don't listen to this kid's nonsense. He... is angry, I can understand..."

As he spoke, he pointed at Nan Yifeng, his eyes filled with a complex emotion of guilt and unwillingness.

He took a deep breath and continued, "He's right. I don't deserve it. For so many years, I haven't fulfilled my responsibilities as a father. He has suffered so much, and the Nan family... has suffered because of me, that woman..."

His voice was a little hoarse, and every word seemed to be squeezed out from the bottom of his heart.

"I shouldn't have let this matter affect the Nan family. The Nan family has always been honest and upright, but this time, I was dragged into this storm because of you. I feel sorry for you."

His eyes were full of self-blame, and his head lowered slightly, as if he was apologizing to Nan Xi and the entire Nan family.

"Brother, you must believe me! I really didn't do those things! That woman was behind all of this, but I was also kind-hearted at the time, so... Alas, it's all my fault for being too kind! But don't worry, I will definitely find a way to handle this matter. I have absolutely done nothing wrong, and I will never let those groundless rumors and malicious slander succeed! I will definitely prove my innocence and give myself justice!

His tone suddenly became firm, and his eyes flashed with an unyielding light, as if he was declaring war on fate.

Nan Yifeng stood aside, looking at his father coldly. His expression did not change at all, but a barely perceptible emotion flashed in his eyes.

Nan Xi quickly stepped forward, holding onto Nan Yifeng's father's arm, and softly said, "Brother, don't say that. We're all family, and we'll handle this together. You haven't recovered yet, so take care of your injuries first. We can deal with other things later. Yifeng is just speaking up for his mother, so you have to understand...it hasn't been easy for him these past few years."

Nan Yifeng's father patted Nan Xi's hand, nodded, and said gratefully, "I understand. If it weren't for you all these years, I don't know what Yifeng would have become. Brother, thank you. I know you are all doing this for my own good, but I have to solve this matter myself."

After saying that, he looked at Nan Yifeng again, with a hint of expectation and pleading in his eyes: "Yifeng, Dad knows he was wrong. I hope you can give me a chance to make up for what I owe you over the years."

Nan Yifeng turned his head away and said nothing, but his clenched fists loosened slightly.

The atmosphere in the ward was still somewhat tense, but there seemed to be a glimmer of hope for easing.

The ward was so quiet that you could hear the ticking of the wall clock. Nan Yifeng's father sat on the hospital bed with his head slightly lowered, like a child who had made a mistake and was waiting to be scolded.

The bandages on his body still had a faint smell of medicine, and the pain in his wounds seemed no match for the torment he was feeling at the moment.

Nan Yifeng went out, and Nan Weiwei followed him out, worried that he would cause trouble again.

Du Yunxi crossed her arms over her chest, her brows furrowed, her eyes filled with resentment. She said to Nan Yifeng's father, "What are you going to do now? The person who tied the bell must untie it. This matter is caused by you, regardless of whether you and her have had a big fight now. Look, once this matter gets out, my sister will be too embarrassed to face anyone. She has been alone and helpless all these years, and she has suffered so much injustice. Don't you know it in your heart?"

Her emotions grew increasingly agitated, and her voice rose an octave unconsciously, as if it was about to burst through the roof. "You can't blame Yi Feng for being angry! Don't you know how much anger he's been accumulating in his heart for so many years? And you, you just left without a word! Do you know how much pain he's felt while you were away?"

"I've waited so long for your return, but who could have imagined that in just such a short time, you'd actually cause him so much trouble! Think about it, isn't this all your own fault? In my opinion, you deserved this beating!"

"But it's okay. After all, you are his biological father. If you didn't have this blood relationship with him, I think you would have died a long time ago, considering that he used to be able to kill a cow with his hands!

Nan Yifeng's father's face turned red and white. He opened his mouth and wanted to explain something, but he felt that any explanation at this moment seemed so pale and powerless.

He sighed and said in a low voice, "I know I was wrong. I really haven't fulfilled my responsibilities as a husband and father over the years. I don't want this to happen."

Nan Yifeng's mother sat aside, tears welling up in her eyes. She gently pulled Du Yunxi's arm and said, "Sister, don't talk about him like that. He has his own difficulties."

Du Yunxi remained unmoved. She patted Nan Yifeng's mother's hand and said, "Sister, you are too kind and always think about him. If he really had difficulties, he should have told you clearly long ago, instead of letting you suffer in such an unclear way."

Nan Xi sat aside, listening silently. He then said, "Brother, there's no point in talking about this now. We have to think of a way to resolve this matter. We can't let this matter continue to ferment like this. It's not good for anyone."

Nan Yifeng's father nodded and said, "Brother, you're right. I'm also trying to think of a solution. I've already contacted some people to see if I can suppress those rumors. I also plan to find an opportunity to make the truth public and clear everyone's name."

Nan Yifeng's biological mother said worriedly, "But will this only make things worse? I'm afraid it will be even harder to deal with then."

Nan Yifeng's father pondered for a moment and said, "If the truth is not made public, this rumor will continue to spread, which will be detrimental to all of us. I believe that as long as we explain the matter clearly, everyone will understand."

Several people sat together again, discussing countermeasures one after another.

Du Yunxi became more and more angry as she spoke, her cheeks flushed with excitement, and her hands unconsciously clenched into fists, her knuckles slightly white.

His eyes were filled with anger and disdain, and saliva splashed out along with his fierce words.

"My sister has had a tough time these past twenty years. She used to be like a flower in a greenhouse, always hoping you could shelter her from the wind and rain, and give her a stable and happy life. But you, on the other hand, have repeatedly brought her torrents of wind and rain. Take this time, for example. Her good life was thrown into chaos by that Chen Lulu. That woman is obviously not a good person. She's still young and still doesn't learn her ways, but she specifically targets married men."

She stood up suddenly and paced back and forth in the ward, her steps quick and powerful, as if she wanted to crush all the anger in her heart.

"She's about the same age as Yi Feng, she could be your daughter, yet she's still shamelessly trying to get close to him. I don't know how her parents raised her. Isn't she doing this just for fame and money? She doesn't even look at her own character. Does she really think that by hooking up with a rich man she can become a phoenix? I think she's just daydreaming!"

Nan Yifeng's father sat on the hospital bed, his head lowered almost to his chest, his face full of shame. He moved his lips, wanting to explain, but felt he had nothing to say.

His hands hung limply at his sides, his fingers trembling slightly, as if he was under tremendous psychological pressure.

"sorry."

Du Yunxi stopped, pointed at Nan Yifeng's father's nose, and continued, "What's the point of you saying this now? It's already happened, you have to find a way to solve it. You have to give an explanation to my sister, to Yifeng, and to the entire Nan family. If you continue to live in this muddleheaded way, you won't be able to live like this!"

Nan Yifeng's mother saw this and quickly stood up, grabbed Du Yunxi's arm, and gently advised: "Sister, don't be so excited. It's not worth getting yourself hurt by anger. He didn't do it on purpose. Let's think of a way to solve this problem together."

Du Yunxi took a deep breath and tried to calm herself down. She patted Nan Yifeng's mother's hand and said, "Sister, I just feel sorry for you. You've given so much for him over the years, but he's let you down time and time again. But you're right, now's not the time to lose your temper. We have to find a way to deal with this matter quickly."

After saying that, she sat back in her chair, her eyes revealing determination and resolve, as if she was ready to deal with all difficulties.
