Chapter 432 [Empire] Farewell 2
Chapter 432 [Empire] Farewell 2
Under the starry night sky, the air still held a slight chill as I entered the warm little tavern. The dim lights reflected the hazy outlines of the night outside through the windows. When I walked in, Wen Ya was sitting at a table in the corner, a glass of red wine in hand, seemingly gazing at the liquid in the glass, a look of deep thought in her eyes.
He wore a dark wool coat, his appearance still as gentle as jade, like a flawless gem polished by time. His temperament had never changed, still that kind of gentleness that made people feel friendly at first sight, as if every movement he made was filled with refinement and composure.
He looked up and smiled when he saw me walk in. There was no surprise in his eyes, but instead a gentleness that seemed to have long expected it. "You're here." His voice was still as low and clear as ever, carrying a sense of comfort that could not be ignored.
I nodded, feeling somewhat bewildered. His words and the look in his eyes always made it difficult for me to handle them. Yes, I knew he was someone I trusted, but in this atmosphere, I suddenly felt a subtle sense of distance.
"Sit down, don't stand." He put down his glass and motioned for me to sit across from him. "How have you been lately?"
I hesitated for a moment before sitting down and adjusting my posture. "Not bad," I whispered, a complex mix of emotions swirling within me. Although he always spoke to me in a gentle tone, I knew he didn't fully understand everything about me.
Wen Ya frowned slightly, as if sensing a change in my mood. He didn't ask directly, but simply picked up his glass, took a sip, and waited quietly for me to speak.
"I'm about to leave the capital planet." I finally said what was in my heart. As soon as I said it, I was stunned, as if I had just realized the truth. No matter how much I hated it, fate had brought me to this moment.
Wen Ya's brows raised slightly, a complex emotion flashing in his eyes, but he quickly regained his composure. He didn't show much surprise, as if he had known my decision for a long time. "Really?" he said softly, "Where are we going?"
"Go to the border star field and find my next sponsor." I gently put down the cup in my hand, and my mood gradually became heavy.
Wen Ya didn't answer immediately. Instead, he stared at me for a long time, as if pondering something. "Will you feel sad?" he finally asked, his voice still gentle, but with a hint of deep concern.
I froze for a moment, my eyes drifting away unconsciously. "Reluctant? Perhaps." I smiled faintly, "But this is the path I must take."
He didn't say anything more, just looked at me quietly, as if waiting for me to make my own decision. After a while, he gently put down his glass, his eyes still gentle, but with a different kind of determination.
"No matter how far you go, remember, there is always a place you can come back to." His voice was not loud when he spoke, but the determination in his voice made me feel a strength I had never felt before.
I looked at him, and the uneasiness in my heart subsided a little. Perhaps a true farewell doesn't necessarily mean eternal separation. Even if our paths diverge, some things never change.
"Thank you, Wen Ya." I lowered my head slightly, with a hint of gratitude in my tone.
Wen Ya simply nodded, a gentle smile still on his face. Then, he slowly stood up, walked in front of me, and seemed to whisper in my ear, "Go, do what you should do. No matter when, remember to come back."
There was another person who said he remembered to come back.
On the balcony, a chill breeze brushed my cheeks as Lin Hao and I sat opposite each other on two chairs, silent and quiet. The night sky in the distance was ablaze with stars, yet the air before us held a slightly uneasy heaviness. Lin Hao, still his casual demeanor, wore his usual hat, seemingly always exuding an air of unyielding determination.
He turned to look at me, a hint of cynicism in his eyes, but quickly regained his composure and turned serious. "Don't worry, the mission will be fine." His tone remained casual, as if every mission was no big deal.
But I knew Lin Hao was more than just a simple response. He was becoming more and more composed, more and more capable of handling things on his own. Although he said "no problem," I knew he took every mission very seriously and wouldn't tolerate any mistakes.
"You are alone, so be careful on this mission." I reminded him with a heavy voice, my eyes narrowed slightly involuntarily, staring at his hair that was slightly messed up by the night wind.
Lin Hao raised his eyebrows, a helpless smile on his face. "Don't worry, I'm not the type to get into trouble easily." He paused, his eyes gradually becoming serious. "As you know, the next mission is a bit tricky, and I don't want you to take any risks."
I felt a subtle surge of nervousness, but I didn't intend to appear overly concerned. We haven't always used worry as a driving force for progress; on the contrary, a slight unease in our hearts can actually make us more alert.
"After the mission is completed, you also have your own things to deal with, right?" I took a deep breath and asked slowly.
Lin Hao was silent for a moment, his eyes slightly lowered, as if something had disturbed his thoughts. But he quickly regained his relaxed demeanor and replied with a smile, "Yes, no matter what, I will complete the task as soon as possible and resolve the current situation. Don't worry too much about me, just do what you need to do."
"Yeah." I nodded, but the tension in my heart still lingered. This uneasiness wasn't a lack of trust in him, but rather an inexplicable premonition of what was about to happen. No matter how simple the mission, the danger lurking behind it always made me uneasy.
"You also have to be careful, stay alert, and don't get too immersed in the mission." Lin Hao paused, his eyes fell on the night sky in the distance, and said in a low voice.
I sighed softly, gazing at the deep night sky. I seemed to hear a whisper from behind the stars. In this uncertain moment, at least he was still by my side. We all know that no matter how unpredictable things may be, the path we must take must continue.
"Once the mission is over, we will each have our own things to do." I suddenly said, my tone becoming gentle but firm.
Lin Hao glanced at me, his lips curled up slightly, as if he had heard some emotion in my words. He didn't say anything else, just nodded and continued to look into the distance.
At this moment, despite the slight distance between our words, we both know that this tacit understanding and care do not require too many words. Everyone has their own mission, and these missions, in this world, intertwine and move forward.
I stood up, turned around and walked into the house, silently making a small wish in my heart - I hope that this period of separation can go smoothly and safely.
