Chapter 213 [Empire] Slaughterhouse

Chapter 213 [Empire] Slaughterhouse

The middle-aged man's question made me fall into deep thought, which made me even more embarrassed.

The middle-aged man was also thinking, his brows slightly furrowed, as if he was racking his brains for my arrangement. After a while, he took out a list from his pocket and handed it to me.

The tasks included delivering cubs, attack training, hunting trips, and even slaughtering exotic beasts. I was stunned. Was this a C-rank job? I looked at the middle-aged man, trying to find some explanation in his face. But he just stared at me silently, his eyes offering no hint of explanation.

The man briefly introduced the work location and left, saying that if you don't have a partner with an exotic beast, he can provide one, but you have to compensate for any casualties at the price.

Actually, my choices are very limited.

Delivering a cub requires specialized medical knowledge and experience, something I've never done before. Attack training is even more difficult. I don't know how to control the beast's behavior, nor do I know what to train. In fact, I know very little about beast combat. Hunting is certainly within my reach. I've been out with Yuka and the others, and I have some fighting skills myself. At least, I have a clue about this mission. Killing a beast is brutal, but I think I can handle it. Beheading is absolutely no problem. I'm not very knowledgeable about dissection, but there's no requirement for skinning or boning, so I probably won't have to play the chef.

Finally, after a brief discussion with the other workers, I decided to go to the slaughterhouse. I wasn't afraid, and I didn't feel any pity or anything like that; such thoughts were unnecessary and foolish for this job. I just wanted the pay.

Soon, I arrived at the site where the exotic animals were being slaughtered. A unique aroma filled the air, a mix of exotic animals, tools, and cleaning agents. In the center of the site, various slaughtering tools were laid out in an orderly fashion.

I stood at the place where the exotic beasts were slaughtered, and repeatedly confirmed with the staff very seriously: "Are you sure you only need to kill and not cut?" The staff was a little helpless because of my serious and persistent questioning, but still answered me seriously: "Yes, you are only responsible for killing, and there will be special people to do the cutting." I understood and began to think about what method to use.

I stood in the arena, gazing at the two enormous, long-haired, horned beasts not far away. Their bodies were massive, their muscles thriving, their long fur swaying in the breeze, their horns gleaming with a sharp light. Standing before these two long-haired, horned beasts, I felt their enormity all the more acute. Their immense bulk felt like a small mountain, overwhelming me with a strong sense of oppression. Truly behemoths, their sheer size alone was a world away from me.

As I approached, their height forced me to crane my head to see them in full. Their sturdy limbs were like massive pillars, steadily supporting their heavy bodies. Their long fur gleamed in the sunlight, like a thick layer of armor. Their horns were curved and sharp, exuding a dangerous aura.

I silently compared the gap between us, fully aware of the difficulty of this battle. The green ivy vines coiled around my arms. The purple-black veins against the green leaves looked even more eerie, as if something was slowly flowing. Faced with an animal-like creature, I naturally chose the green ivy's other variant ability, the poison ivy.

Just as I was concentrating on the hairy, horned beast, a slime suddenly leaped from my pocket, chirping. Its transparent, flabby appearance contrasted sharply with the beast before me. I glanced at it, shook my head helplessly, and silently pushed it back.

The slime grumbled in my pocket, as if protesting my actions. I could feel it twisting in my pocket, trying to break free again.

I patted my pocket lightly, signaling the slime to be quiet.

"Be good, now's not the time for you to come out," I said silently in my heart. The slime seemed to understand my words, and its movements became smaller, but I could still feel its dissatisfaction.

The beast launched the first attack. My eyes focused, and I reacted quickly, directing the venom-filled green ivy to attack the beast. The green ivy and I were always in tune with each other, and we attacked swiftly. Countless giant vines burst from the ground, entwining themselves around the hairy, horned beast like serpents. The vines danced through the air, making a whirring sound. When they made contact with the beast, they immediately wrapped around it tightly, holding it like a giant python.

This is Green Radish's new skill, an attack method developed through actual combat during this period.

The beasts were enraged by the sudden attack and let out deafening roars. They struggled hard, trying to break free from the vines.

The hairy, horned beast erupted with astonishing strength, forcibly breaking free from the green ivy's restraints. In the process, the beast's force also injured the green ivy, breaking some vines and splashing juice. Fortunately, these vines were not the green ivy's branches and leaves, but merely summoned attack vines.

Soon, the poison took effect. The venom from the green ivy began to spread throughout the beast's body. Its movements gradually slowed, and its eyes revealed pain and confusion. Its body began to shake, as if struggling to resist the venom's erosion.

A thick vine shot out like lightning, piercing the beast's eyes and striking its brain with lightning speed. In the blink of an eye, the battle was half over.

The moment the other beast saw its companion fall, its eyes instantly turned red, completely enraged. It roared furiously toward the sky and charged forward madly, its every step causing the ground to shake violently. Its sharp horns gleamed coldly in the sunlight.

I quickly dodged sideways, and the beast passed by, stirring up a gust of wind. What a close call! The green ivy quickly extended its vines, trying to wrap around it again, but the beast was prepared this time and whipped its head around, sending the vines flying.

It turned and charged at me again. I could sense its intense killing intent. It seemed this beast was quite intelligent, knowing that I was both the core and the weakest link in this battle.

I closely watched the beast's movements, searching for a chance to strike back. As it drew closer, I leaped away at the last moment, directing the green vine to attack from the side. The vines lashed at the beast like a whip, but it seemed oblivious to the pain, intent on killing me.

The situation was becoming increasingly difficult. The green ivy's vines attempted another attack, but the beast nimbly dodged them. The beast seemed to have a deeper understanding of the green ivy's attack methods. It cleverly used its massive size and agility to prevent the green ivy from finding the right angle. I felt a surge of anxiety; the beast's defensive capabilities exceeded my expectations.
