Chapter 154 Saving the Day
Chapter 154 Saving the Day
The three left the room and headed to the room where the fire control system was operated.
They just need to turn on the fire sprinklers in the room, and the water will keep spraying out.
The three of them cautiously walked out of the room. Fortunately, the corridor lights were still on, but they could hear the sound of unidentified objects moving in the distance from time to time, which sent chills down their spines.
Chizuru Eizaki stayed close to Horii, who would occasionally look back to check on her and make sure she was safe. Daigo led the way, alertly watching the surroundings.
Finally, they arrived at the door of the room controlling the fire suppression system. Daigo reached out and gently pushed the door, which creaked open slowly.
The room was small, with the walls covered with various pipe and wiring diagrams. The control panel was in the center, with a few faint indicator lights flashing.
Horii strode to the control panel, his eyes eagerly searching for the nozzle start button.
Chizuru Eizaki was also helping out. Relying on her familiarity with the place, she pointed to an inconspicuous green button and said, "Try this. I remember it controls the main valve." Horii took a deep breath and pressed it hard.
Instantly, a muffled rumble echoed throughout the building, followed by the hissing of fire sprinklers and the splashing of water.
At first, it was just a few drops, but then it quickly turned into a torrential downpour, spraying out continuously.
"I hope this trick works." Daigo stared at the showerhead, his eyes full of anticipation.
At that moment, a sharp roar came from outside. The strange flying objects seemed to be enraged by the water flow, and they frantically crashed into the building's exterior walls, causing the walls to tremble slightly.
Jiang Qiqianhe's face turned pale, and she unconsciously moved closer to Horii: "They won't rush in, will they?" Horii held her hand and comforted her: "Don't be afraid, with this water flow blocking them, they won't be able to get in for a while, and the Victory Team should be here soon too."
Daigo quickly ran to the window and peered out through the water curtain, trying to observe the movements of those things.
The water's current slowed their movements, and their flight paths became chaotic. "It seems the water really is affecting them. Let's hold on a little longer!" Daigo shouted.
The three stood back to back, steadfastly holding their ground in the room amidst the cacophony of rushing water and crashing sounds, awaiting the rescue by the Victory Team and the moment when the crisis would be completely over.
But at that moment, the mist actually drifted in through the exhaust vent.
Jiang Qiqianhe, trembling, pointed in the direction of the exhaust vent and shouted, "Horii, look! There's mist coming in from over there!"
Horii and Daigo looked in the direction Eizaki Chizuru was pointing, and their hearts sank slightly.
The fog did indeed drift in, and it grew thicker and thicker over time.
Horii comforted her, "It's alright, with such a small vent, those disgusting tumors can't get in."
But the next second, the truth came out: the mist slowly condensed and actually merged into fleshy tumors.
Horii stared wide-eyed, his face filled with disbelief. The words of comfort he had just uttered seemed to still echo in the air, yet reality was already so cruel. The lumps formed from condensed mist looked particularly grotesque in the dim light and pervasive moisture, slowly wriggling and inching closer to them.
Jiang Qiqianhe shrank into Horii's arms in terror, her voice trembling: "What...what is this?" Horii held her tightly behind him, his arms trembling slightly, but he still tried to remain calm: "Don't be afraid, I'm here."
Daigo quickly looked around, trying to find something useful to use as a weapon in the small room. He spotted a broken iron bar in the corner, rushed over, grabbed it, and held it horizontally in front of him: "Hold on for now, don't let them get closer!"
At this moment, the sounds of strange flying objects crashing, the roar of rushing water, and the writhing of lumps outside mingled together, making one's eardrums ache. The fog grew thicker, visibility became increasingly blurry, and every second seemed to stretch out infinitely, with danger lurking at a moment's notice.
"We can't be trapped here!" Horii shouted through gritted teeth, his eyes sweeping over the control panel. Suddenly, an idea struck him. "The water from these nozzles affects those flying objects outside, so maybe it'll work on these tumors too. Turn the water flow to the maximum and wash them away!" Upon hearing this, Daigo immediately turned and rushed to the control panel, frantically turning the valves.
In an instant, the water surged like a dragon bursting from the sea, the water pressure increased dramatically, and the powerful current crashed down on the fleshy tumors. Under the impact of the water, some of the tumors were torn to pieces, but new mist quickly replenished and condensed. "This won't do, we have to find the source!" Horii shouted.
Jiang Qiqian suddenly remembered: "The ventilation system! The switch controlling the exhaust vents is on that wall over there. Turning it off might stop the fog from getting in!" Horii and Daigo immediately ran towards the switch. Just as they were about to touch it, a huge tumor lunged at them, and the three of them were now hanging by a thread…
There was nothing they could do; since it wasn't working, they had no choice but to leave the room.
The three rushed out but found that no tumors were chasing them.
However, the fire suppression system at the space observation center automatically shut down.
Jiang Qiqianhe asked in confusion, "What's going on? Did we run out of fire hydrant?"
Daigo shook his head and denied it, saying, "Impossible. It hasn't been long enough for the fire hydrant to run out. There must be a problem somewhere."
TPC is very strict about fire safety.
"How could this happen?"
"I understand. The fire protection system is being interfered with by electromagnetic waves, and it's malfunctioning."
"But a malfunction shouldn't cause it to shut down."
Horii frowned, his eyes scanning the surroundings quickly, trying to find a clue: "Never mind why it was shut down. Without the water curtain to stop it, those flying objects could rush in at any time. We need to find a new shelter quickly." At this moment, the roars outside became clearer, as if those strange creatures were eager to break through the defenses.
Jiang Qiqian gripped Horii's clothes tightly, her palms sweating, her voice trembling: "But it's dangerous everywhere, where can we go?" Daigo looked up at the ceiling and suddenly had a flash of inspiration: "The ventilation ducts! Those things are too big to crawl into, we can climb in and hide for a while, and then try to contact the Victory Team."
Just as the three were about to take a gamble, the ground suddenly shook, and the tumors that were flying towards them actually let them go and flew away.
"what's the situation?"
"It's Ye Ming and his group. They came in a Pippa tank. They were probably seen as a threat, so they went out to defend?"
After experiencing everything today, Horii is now certain that this strange tumor must be a monster, or at the very least, a monster's offspring.
Just like Gadi...
"Let's go out and take a look!"
