Chapter 42
Chapter 42
Its enormous body completely obscured the man, pressing him to the ground. Its gaping maw and sharp fangs inspired fear in all who beheld it.
The man was tackled to the ground and instinctively used his arm to block. The sharp teeth that should have been biting his neck bit his arm instead, and drops of blood flowed down, landing on his wild and handsome face.
The wolf king emitted a low, dangerous growl from its throat, indicating that it was very angry.
The man had just gone through a battle and was exhausted. His internal energy was about to be depleted, and he had lost a lot of blood. He was already close to his limit and could only rely on his instincts to fight against the wolf king, who was dozens of times stronger than him.
Blood kept flowing from his arm. Perhaps it had tasted blood, which further aroused its bestial nature. Its eyes turned red and its strength increased. If it wasn't stopped, his hand would be completely ruined.
Nalan Jingwen was waiting, waiting for him to ask her for help.
She wanted to know just how long he could hold on.
The man realized the seriousness of the problem and knew that things couldn't continue like this. He focused intently on the gaping maw and fangs that were only a few fingers away from him, not daring to relax his guard for even a moment.
But his next move made Nalan Jingwen raise an eyebrow.
He blocked the wolf king's attack with one hand, and with the other hand he pulled out the dagger from his chest. His movements were swift and without hesitation. As the dagger was pulled out, blood splattered everywhere. With lightning speed, the dagger plunged into the wolf king's neck with all its might.
The wolf king cried out in pain, raised its head and howled to the sky, then slapped the man away with its paw. With a dull thud, the man was slammed heavily against the tree trunk, bounced back to the ground, and spat out a mouthful of blood.
This powerful claw strike in a fit of rage is no joke; if it were an ordinary person, their internal organs would likely be shattered, and they would die on the spot.
The man quickly rose to his knees, his eyes fixed on the wolf king, whose fur was standing on end and who exuded a dangerous aura. He gripped the dagger tightly in his hand, adopting a defensive stance, while the wolf king was poised to strike.
In the ensuing standoff, the wolf king finally gave in and launched the first attack, pouncing on him.
The man had used up all his strength with that last strike and could no longer retaliate. He could only keep dodging, but dodging was not a solution. The wolf king was also running out of patience and its movements became increasingly rapid and fierce. The man could not defend himself and was tackled to the ground again.
He gripped the wolf king's neck tightly, his veins bulging, large drops of sweat mixed with blood streaming down his face.
The wind howled mournfully, and the silvery moonlight became eerily cold.
Nalan Jingwen concealed her presence and watched coldly. As she struggled, the man looked in her direction, his eyes filled with a deathly silence and darkness, his lips moving slightly but making no sound.
But she saw it clearly.
He said.
Hurry up.
Nalan Jingwen's eyes flashed slightly, and with a swift movement of his feet, a pebble concealing internal force struck the wolf king's vital point.
Another earth-shattering roar erupted, and in that instant, Nalan Jingwen moved with lightning speed, rescuing the man beneath the wolf king.
He quickly applied pressure to stop the bleeding, protected his heart, tossed the man aside, and ran towards the wolf king without looking at him.
He pulled the dagger from its neck and plunged it into its body again, repeatedly stabbing it as he dodged.
It was frantic and roaring, but it couldn't touch Nalan Jingwen's clothes no matter what it did. Its fur was soaked in blood, and it was covered in blood.
Those bloodthirsty eyes stared intently at her, as if they wanted to devour her alive. Low growls emanated from his throat, yet he remained still, engaging her in a battle of wits.
Suddenly, it raised its head and roared at the moon. Nalan Jingwen's expression turned serious, and he immediately realized that it was summoning its companions and that it had to deal with it as soon as possible.
Soon, the wolf king had several more wounds on its body. Now it was furious and had lost all reason. It pounced on Nalan Jingwen with lightning speed.
Soon, a faint green light, like tiny lanterns, appeared all around, densely clustered together.
The wolves are coming!
A dozen wolves pounced on her, trying to tear her apart, but she killed one of them with a single slash, her dagger piercing through their heads. Soon, the ground was piled high with the corpses of wolves.
On the man's side, several wolves were also fighting with him.
She pierced the head of another wolf, a gust of wind whistling past her. Another wolf lunged at her from the side, its mouth agape. Her expression hardened, and she kicked the wolf away with a powerful kick. Gripping her dagger tightly, she channeled her inner strength into it. Just as she turned to plunge the dagger into its skull, a familiar figure in gray linen suddenly appeared behind her, his handsome and wild face coming into view.
The corners of his mouth curved into a very faint smile, so faint as to be almost invisible, and his clear blue eyes gazed at her face.
He took the full force of that claw strike head-on, his tall body crashing to the ground, kicking up clouds of dust that blinded people.
Taking advantage of this opportunity, Nalan Jingwen plunged the dagger, imbued with her inner strength, into the wolf king's skull. The force was so great that it slammed the wolf king to the ground. Only when the wolf king stopped moving and breathing did she pull out the dagger, and blood gushed out, splattering onto her jade-like face.
Without even blinking, she stood up and kicked the wolf king's corpse to make sure it was completely dead before walking toward the disheveled man on the ground.
The man was already in a deep coma. He bent down, picked up the person, glanced down at him indifferently, and channeled his inner strength into the person's body through his palm to protect his heart. Amidst the corpses scattered on the ground and the cold, silvery moonlight, he walked away, creating an eerie harmony.
Hongyun had been waiting anxiously for a long time. Hearing the commotion over there, she dared not go over, always thinking of Nalan Jingwen's orders, and did not make the slightest move.
She wasn't unaware of the wolf howls, but recalling Nalan Jingwen's gaze before he left filled her with a sense of dread.
She had originally decided to wait another five minutes, and if Nalan Jingwen hadn't returned by then, she would rush over with her people. Time passed slowly, and the commotion over there subsided.
A red figure slowly emerged from the dark forest, its clothes flowing and its body slender.
Hongyun was overjoyed and immediately went to greet them, but when she saw the situation of the two of them, her expression froze.
"Miss!"
Nalan Jingwen glanced at her and slowly shook his head, "Return to the carriage."
Hongyun turned her gaze to the person in her arms. When she saw his face, she was not surprised and immediately reached out her hand.
"Miss, should we hand the person over to my subordinates first?"
Nalan Jing smelled a strong stench of blood on her body. She didn't know if she was injured or if the man was injured. If the prince was injured, she wouldn't be able to explain it when her master asked.
Nalan Jingwen did not hand the person over to her, but went straight to the carriage.
"Find someone to treat him, and find a man to apply the medicine for him."
He left those words behind and got into the carriage.
"Yes."
