Chapter 581 Tiger's Mother's Assistance
Chapter 581 Tiger's Mother's Assistance
Once she was sure it was safe, she couldn't wait to send a message.
Back at my third aunt's woodshed, nothing happened on the first day, but on the second day... two people were guarding the door of my third aunt's house and said something to her.
Third Aunt said to Du Mingxian in the yard, "You are not allowed to leave this yard from now on."
"We can't even leave the courtyard, how can anyone live like this?"
"See those two people outside?" Third Aunt pointed to the two people at the door. "They're there specifically to guard you."
Du Mingxian didn't know if they discovered she had sent the message that day, or if it was because she was due to give birth in a little over a month that they sent people to watch over her.
"I want to see Aunt Bai."
"Can't see it."
“I have something important to say. You just need to pass on the message, and she will come to see me.”
"Row."
Du Mingxian waited for ten days. During those ten days, her activities were limited to her third aunt's house. She did consider breaking out, but when she got to the door, she could feel the powerful aura emanating from the two people. They were clearly very skilled.
For her own safety, she dared not confront them directly and could only return home feeling frustrated.
On the eleventh day, Aunt Bai arrived. This was the first time I had seen Aunt Bai since I brought her here.
Sitting on a chair in the main room of her third aunt's house, Aunt Bai stared at her and said, "Speak, what is it?"
"Let me go, and I can do things for you."
Aunt Bai sneered, "You think we need that?"
“If you didn’t need me, you wouldn’t have brought me here.”
"When the Crown Prince sent you to our side to investigate, he should have thought that this day would come. You've been with us for so long, you're worthless now. Only the unborn child in your belly has any value."
Du Mingxian stared at Aunt Bai, her eyes turning cold. "I am his woman, that's true, but you won't give me any freedom at all. Aren't you afraid I'll just take my own life?"
"If you wanted to search, you would have searched long ago. It's better to live a miserable life than to die. Only by living can there be hope. You must understand this."
"I promise I won't run away, but could you let me go out of the village for a walk?"
Aunt Bai stared at her speechlessly, "What kind of situation do you think we're in? You're a prisoner, don't you understand the situation?"
"Of course I know, but I want to go out for a stroll in the village, even just a walk would be fine. I promise I won't run away."
Before Aunt Bai could speak, Du Mingxian threatened, "I've never caused any trouble since I came to the village. I know you're spying on me, but your village is so remote, where can I go with a big belly?"
“Once you realize I’m missing, you can find me immediately. But if I try to escape on my own, even if I hide in the mountains, what if something happens to me with my big belly?”
“I understand better than you that the baby in my belly is important, so I’m more determined to protect myself than you are.”
Aunt Bai stared at Du Mingxian, thinking she was a foolish woman. "Is there anything else you wanted to see me about?"
"Gone."
"Okay, I'll consider it."
"Give me a straight answer."
Aunt Bai left without saying a word, leaving Du Mingxian speechless as she watched her go.
That afternoon, my aunt came back with a sour face. "Those two people at the door are gone, but you can't run away. If you dare to run away, you'll really be dead."
"I know, don't worry, I'm just going out for a stroll." Du Mingxian went out for a stroll in a very good mood.
At first, her third aunt accompanied her, but later her third aunt became too lazy to go, so she let Du Mingxian go by herself.
Wandering around on your own opens up endless possibilities.
With her belly almost nine months along, she was getting more and more anxious. She wasn't too worried, though, because she was controlling her weight and the baby shouldn't be too big.
Compared to Da Hua's frighteningly large belly, hers is alright.
But she worried that Ling Silang would be preoccupied with her and lose his composure.
She went out again that day and saw Tiger's little sister playing at the foot of the mountain. She accidentally fell to the ground and hit her knee on a rock. Children's skin is delicate, and it bled immediately.
Tiger's sister was in so much pain that tears welled up in her eyes, but she stubbornly refused to cry.
A four or five-year-old child was injured and bled, but she didn't cry. Du Mingxian felt sorry for her and went over to get some medicine to sprinkle on her. She also tore off a piece of her clothes and used it to tie her leg.
"Be careful when you walk, don't rush, take it slowly."
"I want to go home, I want to go home to see my mother."
"You're injured, let me take you home."
"Thank you."
Du Mingxian escorted Hu Zi's younger sister home.
Tiger's family is not in a good situation. Many houses in the village are made of blue bricks and tiles, but perhaps to cover them up, they are covered with a layer of mud and thatched with straw.
But Tiger's house was a real thatched hut, and the yard was in terrible disrepair.
Du Mingxian led the person directly into the house, and then heard a series of coughs.
"Please accept my condolences, sister. You still have a child."
Tiger's mother was surprised to find her daughter brought back by a woman. Upon closer inspection, she recognized Du Mingxian and said, "Thank you."
"You're welcome. Her injury isn't serious; I've applied some medicine." Du Mingxian saw through the light in the room that Hu Zi's mother wasn't doing well, and she reminded her, "Sister, as long as a person is alive, there is endless hope."
Tiger's mother didn't say anything.
Du Mingxian turned to leave, but Hu Zi's mother suddenly called out to her, "You were forcibly brought into the village by them, weren't you?"
Du Mingxian turned around and looked at her with a puzzled expression.
Could it be that the villagers knew about it?
“Our village is remote. How could you, a pregnant woman with a big belly, have come here just to stay with your cousin?”
Du Mingxian stared at her without saying a word.
Tiger's mother was probably eager to get closer to Du Mingxian, so she hurriedly said, "I know everything else about the village, and I can tell you anything, but you have to promise me one thing."
Du Mingxian frowned. "How do I know it wasn't a trap set by people from your village?"
Tiger's mother didn't answer her question, but looked at her daughter with loving eyes, "Why don't you go to the kitchen and boil some water?"
"Good girl."
Watching her daughter leave, Tiger's mother said, "My condition is that when you get out of here alive, you must take my daughter with you and treat her well."
Du Mingxian was very surprised, "How did you know I could get out alive?"
“Your identity is not simple, and the affairs in our village are even more complicated. They brought you back, and your people will definitely come looking for you. Your chances of getting out alive are very high.”
“I might not make it. Tiger is gone, and I can’t send Niu Niu away. Those beasts only want boys. Very few girls in the village survive.”
Du Mingxian was even more shocked, "Does everyone in your village know that if someone dies in your village, they go to live somewhere else?"
"No, others may not know, but I do."
"what?"
“I once saw my man by chance… with another child and a woman by his side. I followed him quietly and found that… many of the dead people from our village were living there.”
