Chapter 237 Anle Faints
Chapter 237 Anle Faints
Xiao Heng looked up and saw snowflakes falling, growing larger and larger. The blinding white light made it hard for him to open his eyes, but he knew he had to hurry, otherwise the heavy snow would block the mountain and make things even more difficult.
"Yes, it's snowing." Xiao Heng said, but quickened his pace.
Snowflakes fell softly, and Jing Anle reached out to catch them, but the tiny snowflakes melted on her fingertips in an instant. Tall, withered grass surrounded them, occasionally brushing against them. Jing Anle wrapped her hands in a handkerchief and used it to shield Xiao Heng's cheeks, not wanting the grass to cut him. Xiao Heng was startled, then a smile spread across his lips, and he moved even faster.
His master had taught him to locate things by sound, and now, after walking for a long time, the sound of the river had finally grown louder.
Pushing aside the weeds, a stream came into view, allowing Xiao Heng to see their location. They were situated in a mountain hollow, flanked by towering mountains and dense forests, with a small stream flowing quietly through the middle.
"Anle, that's great, we've made it out of this." Xiao Heng's voice was full of joy.
"Just follow the river and you'll find a way out."
The person on his back did not react, and Xiao Heng realized something was wrong, so he quickly put Jing Anle down.
"Anle?" The person in his arms was ice cold and her face was as pale as paper. Xiao Heng felt his hands trembling and quickly wrapped her tightly in his cloak.
"Anle, wake up! Anle, don't scare me!" Xiao Heng held Jing Anle's hand protectively in his own, rubbing it vigorously and breathing warm air on it from time to time.
Jing Anle felt as if he were walking in a vast expanse of white, with a glimmer of light ahead.
"cold……"
Hearing the voice from the person in his arms, Xiao Heng's heart finally settled down. He hugged Jing Anle tightly, saying, "Anle, you scared me to death."
"I...I'm fine." Jing Anle looked at Xiao Heng's tearful eyes. Behind him was a sky full of white, seemingly real yet unreal. "Xiao Heng, I'm so cold."
"Cold?" Xiao Heng, at a loss, hugged Jing Anle even tighter and stuffed her hands into his chest.
"It's so warm." Jing Anle nestled against Xiao Heng's chest, a smile spreading across her lips. She felt as if she had stepped into a furnace, yet the howling wind still whistled past her ears. She seemed to have lost the distinction between reality and illusion, and it was as if she heard someone calling her. But when she turned around, she had fallen into an abyss.
Jing Anle didn't know how she got back. When she woke up, she was covered with a thick tiger-skin rug, and there was the crackling sound of charcoal fire in the room.
"Good child, you're finally awake." Before Jing Anle could react, a graceful and elegant woman was already sitting by her bedside.
Jing Anle's first reaction was "stunning." This woman was even more beautiful than the former Consort Yu. She wore her hair in a high bun, adorned with a pair of phoenix gold hairpins on either side, and red gemstones were embedded in her hair. She was also dressed in a golden palace robe, making her truly dazzling and incomparably beautiful.
"Who are you?" Jing Anle stared at her face. She looked to be in her thirties, with slightly upturned phoenix eyes, a high nose bridge, and fiery red lips. She was not only beautiful but also radiant.
The woman did not reply, but instead instructed the palace servants, "Quickly go and invite His Majesty over, and tell him that the princess has woken up!"
"Mu Ping, A Fang!" Jing Anle called out hurriedly, having many questions at the moment.
"Good child, don't worry, your maids are brewing medicine for you in the kitchen!" The woman's voice was gentle, as if she were coaxing a child.
Looking at the woman's features, Jing Anle's gaze seemed to soften, as if she had remembered something. "You are Princess Yongping!"
"What a clever child." The woman smiled, but her crimson lips turned down instantly. "However... you have to call me aunt."
