Chapter 303: The Dead Has Come
Chapter 303: The Dead Has Come
Corey knew that he had to confront Brayden about what was going on but Brayden went straight to Glenn’s tent.
This was a surprise because there was no way that Corey would be able to stop him without things escalating but this would also be the perfect opportunity for him to scout the camp further without suspicion.
He knew that Glenn wasn’t stupid, giving away their plan would be him going against the camp, and this was punishable by exile. In other words, throwing away his life for a group of strangers.
He was a raider so he was no stranger to difficult choices and that meant he had done some things he wasn’t proud of, they all had.
Glenn might look innocent but there was no one innocent left in this world because killing became something that they all do, be it the living or the dead.
There were no rules, and there was no right or wrong but that wouldn’t stop them from trying to cling to what they once knew for they had no way to adapt to this ever-changing world.
Those who did embrace the new world couldn’t do so with their humanity.
Corey signalled for two of his men to check things out and nodded in response as they headed in that direction.
Things were reaching a climax but Corey knew he had to play his cards right, the pistol he used to save Brayden’s life wasn’t confiscated.
He was surprised that Brayden didn’t ask any questions either, it was like he knew he had a weapon on him but was waiting to see what he wished to do with that weapon.
Brayden was tricky and Corey was beginning to realize that he had severely underestimated this group of people.
However, it would be a lot easier to get their weapons back in the dark and carry out the extermination of these people.
"What are you planning, Brayden..." Corey muttered under his breath with one of the creepiest smiles known to man.

Brayden met with Glenn and Rachel, he knew that things were dire but there was one thing that Glenn wouldn’t do and that was lie to him.
Glenn was relieved seeing him, Brayden could tell as well but there was something about him that changed.
"Glenn, I’m surprised to see you but the look on your face earlier told me that you might be here against your will," Brayden read the situation despite acting like they didn’t notice a thing.
He acted cheerfully but he could understand Glenn’s body language, the moment Corey came into view his body stiffened.
Glenn kept quiet because he had to choose his words carefully otherwise he could be treated as a threat.
He didn’t speak much with these people and he was aware that it was Jason that made nice with them as he was out for most of the time he was here.
If anything, he did a good job of showing his incompetence but that could work in his favor.
"Tell me, Glenn, where is Jason?" Brayden asked sternly, he didn’t like the new faces he was seeing and if they wished to recruit them, it would make a lot more sense using people they already knew.
Rachel’s facial expression changed the moment she heard his name, something that Brayden noticed but he wasn’t going to draw her attention to it as he could guess what had happened.
Rachel opened her lips to respond to him, it was like reality had hit her, the thing she had been denying for months, she could no longer keep pretending that it didn’t happen.
"Jason, I am afraid he is...!" Before Rachel could complete her sentence, Glenn intervened.
"He couldn’t make it, he has been gone for a while to sort some things out but I am sure he will return once he is done," Glenn’s voice was unwavering and Rachel couldn’t help but smile.
"That is right, he will be back," Rachel repeated after him.
"I would have been a lot more comfortable with Jason around but I know since you were close with him, I can trust you as Andre once did," Brayden pointed out.
"That is right, where is Andre?" Glenn asked as he hadn’t seen him but without a moment of hesitation, Brayden responded.
"Andre is dead... One of those undead beasts got him,"
Glenn now understood why the aura he felt around Brayden felt different, he had been forced to grow up because the world had taken something very important from him.
This was the last thing that he had and he was going to do everything in his power to keep it safe.
"Now tell me the real reason you are here," Brayden finally asked, Glenn knew that if he was asking then his intuition must have sensed that something was wrong.
"We are here to... kill you," Glenn hesitated for a moment but this revelation didn’t surprise Brayden, he just wished to hear it from Glenn’s mouth.
"Thank you for being honest Glenn. I knew that was the plan from the get-go but I wanted to see if I could trust you because we have found your community, there is no way they would let a bunch of people they don’t know deplete their resources without any research or knowledge about us," Brayden responded because if they knew, they wouldn’t be treating them as hostiles.
Jason managed to sneak in Shantel because she was not only attractive but she was a single person.
But a group of twenty-plus people? That was enough to cause serious disorder should their intentions not be pure and there was no way the risk was worth it.
"I’m afraid that they might have begun already..." Brayden informed him, confusing Glenn.
"Begun?" Glenn repeated, trying to clarify what he meant by this.
"That is right, a few of my men that were supposed to repeat back to me are nowhere to be seen but then it hit Glenn, Dimitris too wasn’t here.
"Now that you mention it..." Glenn said but before the conversation could go further, a series of gunshots rang outside and what followed was screams and chaos.
But the question was, was this Corey and his men finally carrying out their orders or were the army of the dead here?
