Chapter 362 - 352: Sea City Impressions
Chapter 362 - 352: Sea City Impressions
Two days later, the car finally arrived at its destination, Sea City.
Wang Miaomiao staggered off the car, wanting very much to stretch her limbs, but unfortunately, she couldn’t.
Because they had already arrived at the hotel entrance, and quite a few people were standing there to welcome them. Tsk tsk... such a grand reception!
"Minister Fan, welcome, welcome."
"Mayor Liu, pleased to meet you."
Wang Miaomiao watched as leaders from both sides shook hands warmly and exchanged pleasantries. She thought it had nothing to do with her and was about to get her luggage when she heard Mr. Fan calling her.
"Miao Miao, come over here, this is Mayor Liu."
Wang Miaomiao had no choice but to step forward, smiling as she shook hands and exchanged pleasantries, "Mayor Liu, pleased to meet you."
"Mayor Liu, this is Professor Wang, whom we specially invited from Jing University. She is proficient in five foreign languages. With her here, everything will certainly be foolproof," Fan Zhong introduced Wang Miaomiao to Mayor Liu, fully expressing his high regard for her.
Among this group, Wang Miaomiao was the only one not officially on staff.
This task was relatively complex. On the surface, Minister Fan was bringing subordinates to Sea City for work inspection, but secretly there was an important multinational leaders’ collaboration meeting, which was a top-secret.
As it was confidential, naturally, the fewer people who knew about it, the better. Over the years, besides majoring in English, Wang Miaomiao had minored in German and French, and later studied Russian and Portuguese too.
Language is something that links together well, once you understand the essentials, it becomes very interesting and fulfilling. Wang Miaomiao had long decided to continue learning other languages in the future.
During this era, there were not many who delved into learning several languages like her, which was why Fan Zhong valued her so much.
Indeed, hearing Fan Zhong’s words, Mayor Liu’s eyes lit up slightly.
Wang Miaomiao felt a bit embarrassed. After shaking hands with Mayor Liu, she quickly retreated to the back.
"Hmph..."
A soft snort made Wang Miaomiao glance to the side, where she saw a young girl pouting, chin raised, with a proud expression.
Amusement flashed in Wang Miaomiao’s eyes; this girl seems quite entertaining...
After entering the hotel, it was time for room assignments. As expected, she and Song Can were assigned to the same room.
Hehe... she knew it...
Among the group, they were the only two girls, unless Sea City generously provided everyone with a separate room, they were bound to share one.
Wang Miaomiao didn’t mind too much; she had already grown accustomed to the sound of humming throughout the journey.
However, Fan Zhong looked at them worriedly, fearing they might stir up emotions before even entering the room, embarrassing themselves and also the people of Beijing.
He followed them nervously to the room door.
"Mr. Fan, we’ve arrived, no need to escort us any further, thank you," Wang Miaomiao teased, glancing back at him, everything implied but left unsaid.
"Hehe..." Fan Zhong chuckled, his face not showing any embarrassment, as if he believed that not feeling embarrassed meant it wasn’t embarrassing, "Alright then, you both go in and rest for a while. We’ll dine at eleven in the restaurant, and I’ll have someone come to call you later."
While Wang Miaomiao was talking to Fan Zhong, Song Can had already opened the door and went in; the young girl seemingly didn’t think much of it.
Fan Zhong touched his nose, laughed, and left. Watching his back, he seemed cheerful, as if he was in a good mood...
Wang Miaomiao shook her head helplessly and sighed, carrying her things inside the room.
Inside the room, Song Can had already claimed the bed by the window. Naturally, Wang Miaomiao wouldn’t compete with her, placing her items on the other bed and starting to unpack.
She would be staying here for at least over half a month, so even in a hotel, she wanted to make herself comfortable.
Each of them occupied half the space, leaving not much room to place things. Her roommate seemed to be a bit temperamental; Wang Miaomiao outwardly showed nothing, though inwardly she had sighed numerous times.
Actually, she wasn’t accustomed to sharing living space with strangers, but since this was the room arrangement made for her, she, being a guest, was too embarrassed to make any requests.
Song Can watched Wang Miaomiao moving around, seemingly turning the hotel into her home, feeling quite speechless. She couldn’t bear it anymore and directly spoke, "What’s Professor Wang doing? This is a hotel, not your home..."
Wang Miaomiao simply smiled, "I know..."
Wang Miaomiao continued preparing her belongings, not intending to explain. For her own life, does she need someone else’s approval to make herself comfortable?
Song Can waited for a while, expecting her to continue, but only received a nonchalant four words, so perfunctory...
Seeing that she apparently wasn’t planning to say more, Song Can glared at her, feeling unhappy inside.
Then, with a bit of a huff, the young girl took out her things and started arranging them as well.
The originally small and sparse room became a bit lively because of their activities.
Wang Miaomiao noticed Song Can’s actions from the corner of her eye, and found them quite amusing, her initial aversion to the young girl lessening. She was just a simple-minded girl; although it was unclear why she disliked her, she seemed to lack any real guile or malice.
After tidying up, Wang Miaomiao checked the time, seeing that it wasn’t early, guessing someone would soon call them for lunch. With nothing else to do, she took out a book to pass the time.
Song Can was always watching Wang Miaomiao.
An elegant woman leisurely leaned against the bedhead, flipping through a book, page by page, slowly and methodically. A strand of gentle sunlight trickled through the window, casting a colorful aura...
She couldn’t help but sigh: so beautiful, no wonder Brother Jiang liked her, married her, and treated her so well...
Alright, as she thought more, she started feeling a pang of sourness in her chest.
She stood up, frustrated, intending to find a book to read, but realized she had only brought nice clothes and cosmetics, no books...
She was so angry...
Song Can grabbed her wallet and room card, stamping her foot as she headed out.
"Where are you going? We’re about to have lunch soon..." Although she didn’t want to meddle, as someone older, and both being part of the same team, she felt the need to remind her.
Song Can was a bit surprised Wang Miaomiao spoke to her; after all, she had been rather dismissive earlier. She wanted to act aloof and not respond, but basic manners prompted her to speak, "To buy a book, I’ll be back soon."
Though her tone wasn’t very pleasant.
Wang Miaomiao nodded and didn’t say anything further. Song Can pursed her lips and left.
Their interactions truly were a bit awkward, but Song Can wasn’t deliberately making trouble anymore, and Wang Miaomiao didn’t dwell on it much either, so they got along somewhat peacefully.
Moreover, after lunch, their itinerary gradually began. Once busy, those minor awkwardnesses seemed trivial and insignificant.
