Chapter 527 Stupid Man
Chapter 527 Stupid Man
After this period of testing and reflection, Chi's mother's mindset has changed significantly. Actually, Yan Zuozuo hasn't changed over the years; she still respects her greatly. It was Chi's own mindset that caused the deterioration of the mother-in-law/daughter-in-law relationship.
Just as the old man said, mistakes should be punished. You can't blame someone else just because she's your sister, especially since that person is her daughter-in-law.
Mrs. Chi sighed, realizing how foolish she had been in the past. She turned to Yan Zuozuo and said, "Stay for dinner today. Your belly is so big now, you need to eat well. I'll go cook now."
"Mom, no need, we..."
"Be good, listen to Mom, we'll eat here." Chi Moqing said gently, interrupting her refusal. How could he not know what his little wife was thinking? He reached out and placed his hand on her round belly, comforting her, "Don't worry, I've got everything covered."
Hearing Chi Moqing's words, Yan Zuozuo felt a surge of sweetness in her heart. She obediently stayed in her husband's arms, listening to his strong heartbeat. No matter how others treated her, she knew that having such a man to rely on was enough.
Early in the morning, it was the day Tong Shili and Song Yutong were to set off to interview Yu Fangfei. The two arrived at the airport together, and neither of them noticed that someone seemed to be following them along the way.
Around 5 PM, Yan Zuozuo was about to leave work when she received their first draft of the interview in her email. She studied it for a long time but couldn't find any problems with it. Although it wasn't outstanding, and was even somewhat mediocre, it shouldn't be a problem.
The fact that they were able to finalize the draft in just a few hours shows that these two people did a good job.
In the video, Yan Zuozuo looked at Tong Shili and Song Yutong with admiration, "You did a great job, but you still need to polish it up a bit in post-production. You've worked hard."
Song Yutong breathed a sigh of relief: "So the first draft is approved? Then Yutong and I can go back now. We were worried that it wouldn't be approved and we would have to trouble Ms. Yu again."
Yan Zuozuo smiled and said, "Both of you are the most outstanding talents. I am very relieved to entrust this mission to you. Are you going to rush back tonight? Tomorrow is fine too, after all, it's already late."
"It's alright, we can head back. The sooner we finish the mission, the more at ease we'll be."
Yan Zuozuo nodded, then said with a serious expression, "Post-production only requires some polishing. Given Ms. Yu's special status, this publicity article absolutely cannot have any flaws. The more ordinary, the better; it doesn't need any highlights to attract the public. Think carefully again about whether there are any oversights in this interview. I hope you can report the truth. If any problems arise in post-production, I'll make it clear upfront: I will not protect anyone, understand?"
Yan Zuozuo spoke very seriously, and Tong Shili and Song Yutong were not fools; they naturally understood what he meant.
After pausing for a moment, Tong Shili said, "I'll tell you the detailed process when I get back."
“Me too,” Song Yutong said. “Besides, since the director attaches so much importance to this matter, I hope that when we submit it to the director, we can exchange emails to see if there are any oversights.”
Yan Zuozuo nodded: "Then let's decide on this. You don't need to rush. Just give it to me before you get off work tomorrow. Get a good night's sleep when you get back."
After Tong Shili and Song Yutong left, Yan Zuozuo picked up the phone and called Yu Fangfei to thank her for her cooperation.
"Director Yan, you're too kind. This is a mutually beneficial arrangement," Yu Fangfei said elegantly.
Yan Zuozuo smiled and said, "I was supposed to be in charge this time, but there are too many things to handle and I can't manage them all at once. Please forgive me, Ms. Yu."
"No need to be so polite, I know about what's going on over there. But those two girls are quite good, smart and capable, they're promising talents."
Hearing Yu Fangfei say this, Yan Zuozuo finally breathed a sigh of relief. "That's good. I've already seen their first draft. After some polishing, it can be released. I'm really grateful to Ms. Yu for taking the time out of her busy schedule to cooperate with our publicity."
"Director Yan, you flatter me. It is my honor."
……
Around 10 PM, Ding Le returned home and happened to see the fox strolling around the yard. The atmosphere between them had been a bit awkward these past few days, so Ding Le pretended not to see him and ignored him. The fox, however, was staring at her intently, which puzzled Ding Le. If he liked Lucy, why was he watching her so constantly?
She didn't ask, nor did she want to know anymore.
She went straight home, and the fox watched her go inside but didn't follow. Ding Le bit her lip; did he have a date so late?
As soon as she entered, she rushed to the balcony and hid behind the curtains like a thief, secretly observing the fox in the yard. He stood there quietly, as if waiting for someone.
Time passed slowly, and the fox had been standing downstairs for more than half an hour. Just when Ding Le was about to lose interest, a familiar and beautiful figure suddenly appeared in his line of sight.
Lucy! It really is Lucy!
She was wearing the most popular short skirt of the year, with a belt tied at the waist, her pink dress flowing gracefully. Long, wavy hair cascaded down her back, exuding undeniable charm.
Upon seeing Lucy, the fox seemed to perk up considerably and went over to greet her.
The two were very close and acting intimately. Ding Le's heart suddenly ached. What were they doing here so late?
In the courtyard of the residential complex, Lucy smiled gently and deliberately yawned a long yawn. "Mr. Fox, I was already in bed at this time. I didn't expect to receive a text message from you."
There was a vending machine in the neighborhood. The fox took two cartons of milk and gave one to her.
Lucy hesitated before taking it, pouting as she said, "Drinking milk at night makes it easy to gain weight."
"It's fat-free, so don't worry."
Lucy's eyes lit up, and she inserted the straw. "I didn't expect you to be such a gentle man. You're so considerate."
"You flatter me." The fox's eyes flickered, and he took a sip of milk. "I'm sorry to have called you out so late."
"It's okay, I think there must be a reason why you called me out so late."
The fox nodded, pondered for a moment, and said, "I did have something to ask you to come out."
Upon hearing this, Lucy's eyes darted around, and she tentatively asked, "I don't know what it is, but if you can give me a convincing reason, I'll forgive you for calling me out so late."
"What if I said it was about our relationship?" The fox slowly smiled wickedly and moved closer to Lucy.
Lucy was speechless with surprise at the fox's directness. However, she was also an extremely intelligent woman, and how could she not understand the fox's implication?
He was no longer satisfied with just being friends with her and wanted to take things further.
The fox was actually a decent man, just a little less than Chi Moqing. Her ultimate goal was still Chi Moqing, but the man before her was her mission.
She smiled knowingly and said, "Mr. Fox, I don't quite understand what you mean."
“How could a woman as smart and beautiful as you not understand what I mean?” The fox spoke slowly. “You know very well that although Jian Ning and his wife are separated, his wife is pregnant after all. Even if he really gets divorced in the future, they will still have a child to deal with. Can you really trust all of this? Besides, if a man can cheat once, he can cheat a second time.”
The fox's words were pointed, and Lucy remained silent, forced to acknowledge the truth. However, her time with Jian Ning was merely to gather information; now that she had it, it was time to slip away and begin her next mission.
But she still said shyly, "Mr. Fox, it seems like we haven't known each other for very long. Isn't this... a bit too fast?"
"Does the length of time really seem that important to you?" The fox chuckled softly. "I've already made my point. As for how to choose, that's up to you."
Lucy met the fox's captivating eyes and was momentarily stunned. This man was too alluring; how could someone with such a baby face have such a tempting, sinful expression? She took a deep breath, trying to regain her composure.
She's not afraid of going around in circles or playing mind games, but what she worries about most is encountering someone who is as impenetrable as a fortress on the outside, making it impossible for anyone to understand their heart.
He and the fox had no intention of playing emotional games; it was all just a mission. But inexplicably, she felt that something was beyond her control.
"Aren't you cold? It's getting chilly now, wear more clothes when you go out at night." As he spoke, the fox put his coat on Lucy, his tone gentle.
When Lucy met the fox's concerned eyes, her heart skipped a beat, and she felt a warm glow all over her body; she almost wanted to collapse into the fox's arms.
"Lucy, what are you doing?" A familiar voice came, its tone tinged with suppressed emotion.
Lucy was startled and quickly got out of the fox's arms. She turned to face Jian Ning's tense face, calmed down, and said casually, "Jian Ning, what are you doing here?"
"That's a question I should be asking you!"
Lucy's lips curved into a gentle smile as she said softly, "I was bored and went for a walk, and before I knew it, I found myself here with Ding Le. I was originally going to tell her about what happened last time, but then I ran into Mr. Fox, and we started chatting." She paused, her beautiful eyes blinking innocently, "And you?"
"I couldn't get through to you on the phone, so I wondered if you were here to see Ding Le." Lucy had told him before that she felt guilty about causing Ding Le to lose her job last time and wanted to apologize to her, but she didn't expect that he would actually come.
"Oh, I just..." Lucy paused, then seemed to remember something and stared at Jian Ning suspiciously, "Why are you here too? Did you come to see Ding Le?"
"I came to see you!" Jian Ning said, sounding somewhat aggrieved. "You've been so busy lately, it's not easy for us to meet. Sometimes I can't even get through on the phone..."
"And you're the one talking about me? You just forget about me when you get busy. Besides, I know you and Ding Le are close, and I'd feel bad if I ruined your relationship. That's why I came over to talk to her." Lucy looked at him with a pitiful expression, tears welling up in her eyes.
Jian Ning's heart tightened, and her tone was full of guilt, "It's all my fault. I'll try my best to spend time with you in the future."
The fox saw all this and felt contempt for Jian Ning. What a stupid man!
